OUR MISSION

To integrate our children into society as wholesome citizens.

VISION

To be the premier provider of healing and enrichment opportunities for Arizona’s children needing emergency out of home placement.

Kids First: The children of Sunshine Residential Homes comes first at all times. It is our goal that every foster child who stays with us will experience healing in their hearts and lives as a result of the warmth, care, and acceptance they receive at Sunshine.

THE FACTS…

HISTORY

Simon Kottoor, MSW, founded Sunshine Residential Homes in 1996, with a vision of exceeding existing standards by providing excellent care to children in congregate foster placement. Since its inception, Sunshine Residential Homes has provided care for 25,000 children in Arizona.

HELPING CHILDREN

There are over 300 children in care with Sunshine Residential Homes, and approximately 200 employees who assist the children with their daily needs, while displaying compassionate care and nurturing.

TUTORING & MENTORING

Sunshine is partnering with a variety of community agencies and local schools to ensure that all students in need of extra help in school are receiving tutoring and mentoring services.

KEYS TO SUCCESS

Sunshine recognizes and rewards our children for their good grades and serious effort toward improvement in their studies. Each month, all children who meet the criteria for success in school are rewarded with a special catered dinner, certificates and prizes.

LIFE SKILLS TRAINING

Sunshine teens 15-18 years of age take part in our Independent Living Preparation, which includes instruction in personal finance, job searching skills, college and vocational school visits, fitness and nutrition, and career assessment. Our goal is to help the children surmount the challenges they will encounter when they age out of foster care.

SERVICES & MORE

Sunshine children receive all of the services available to help them heal and grow. These services may include counseling, medication, individual education plans, tutoring, mentoring, family therapy and support, and sibling visits.
