BOY SCOUTS

Our wish is for every child to experience fun and wholesome activities with trusted and caring adults. Sunshine has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to create the first (and only) chartered Boy Scout troop in Arizona, made up of only foster children. Sunshine’s chartered Boy Scout troop allows our young men to experience Scouting in a way that accommodates their unique circumstances. In 2013 we honored our first Eagle Scout! Arizonans for Children is a generous sponsor of Sunshine’s Boy Scout Troop 805.

Ours is a boy-led troop, focusing on building our Scouts’ leadership experiences, self-esteem and confidence; skills they will rely upon when they become independent.

Sunshine’s Boy Scouts enjoy outdoor and community experiences, including:

• Camping 4-6 times a year
• Horseback riding
• Fishing
• Hiking
• Swimming
• Rock climbing
• Visits to museums, parks, and historical sites
• Community service projects
• Merit badge classes with local experts

Our Scout troop meets 3-4 times per month and regularly holds Courts of Honor to celebrate our Scouts’ advancements in rank.
